From the creek, looking up at the porch and back of the houseIt hit me, after my last post, that you might not really understand just HOW close to the creek we are (I would have to say that my porch was the hit of that post!). The blog isn't titled "Life IN the Creek" because we're not THAT close. But we certainly are BY it. When it floods, it comes up high, but our house is higher. It would take a flood of Noah proportions for water to be able to damage the house (I'm so glad I married a builder, who completely understands these things). Anyway... if we leave our bedroom window open, (and if there hasn't been an epic drought to the point that the creek dries up), we can hear the babble of creek water. And certainly, on the porch, the creek provides gentle music as it runs. But I thought I'd post a couple of pictures to give you a visual of where the creek is in relation to our house. It's up right now, and healthier than it's been in several years. The drought took a toll on it, leaving it dry for months year before last and for weeks at a time last year. And when it DID have water in it, it was sluggish, muddy, and murky. Today, the Bug Hunter really was able to play in the creek for the first time in a long time. It was lovely to watch him splash and cavort like a young buck. I am thankful for our home, and for the beautiful landscaping provided by One who puts all others to shame.

Y'all come and visit sometime, OK? Just call first so I can be ready to give you a hug!

I love your home, inside and out. Whenever you get tired of it let me know, we will be glad to take it =)
hmm.. so if you love it so much, why don't y'all come over more often? hmmmm?????
What a lovely setting, Pam! I think I would spend a lot of time on the screened porch listening to the creek and the outdoors. There's nothing like surrounding yourself with nature to help de-stress.
What a beautiful lot!! I would certainly have the windows open as often as possible. Isn't it wonderful the sounds we get used to that make our place "home"? We live across the lake from our neighborhood pool...and I love it when the season opens and you can hear the kids playing! I can often keep track of the time with the hourly blowing of the whistle for breaktime. Now those predawn Saturday swim meets....not so much!?!?
That is so beautiful dear.
Just beautiful.. Oh how I would love to visit...
Good grief - that is beautiful!
I have been so thankful to live surrounded by the woods and able to look out the back window and see horses (the elk... not so much).
I would really love to visit! We'll call first :)
Umm, scratch that... MR. DADDY will call first. It's kinda pointless having a phone conversation with a deaf person ;)
(oh come on... if I can't laugh about it, who can?)
Looks like you're nestled away from the big city life of Atlanta...be so thankful for that! You have such beautiful surroundings to enjoy! What I'd give to live close to a creek so I could enjoy that soothing sound at night...you are so fortunuate!
I hope you have a very special Mother's Day on Sunday! Big hugs!
Oh, that is so beautiful! Living in the country is so wonderful isn't it? Love the stairs, they are beautiful.
Don't you just LOVE living by a creek??!! We have a small creek that runs at the side of our property...right now, with all of the rain, it's sounds like a small river!!....but I love to listen to that water running. It is soo relaxing..My clothesline is also by that creek...so it's perfect!!
Love ya!
Deb
