This week at I Heart Faces, the theme is "Back to School", and the guidelines are as follows:
For this week's photo challenge, we'd like you to enter a photo that represents "Back to School" for you (and there must clearly be a face in the photo as well.)
Most of the pictures will be happy, funny, and lighthearted. But those are not adjectives that I would use to describe the Bug Hunter when summer is coming to an end. No matter how wonderful the teacher or how great the friendships, he views the first day of school as the end of freedom. He is in need of wide open spaces, and no classroom in that building can contain his curiosity and energy. And so, for Bug Hunter, the party is over. First day of school, last minute of freedom. Time to turn and walk into 4th grade, my man. It isn’t just summer that goes by too quickly. It's life.
For more "Back to School" moments, be sure to check out all of the links at I Heart Faces. If you have time, scroll back through their posts and read their tutorials, too. Amy, Angie, and a host of others have created more than a photo blog there; it's a real community. Enjoy!

What a great shot...
and a very handsome young man, I remember well the same feelings, no teacher or friendship was worth the loss of freedom...
Yep turn out the lights the party is truly over....LOL
I think you might have a winner here.
The bug hunter looks so handsome - and SO serious! Surely there was a smile to follow....school is cool!! (I know, I'm just too witty)!
Hope the school year is off to a good start - I love your photos!
AMAZING photo :)
Great blog design!!!
Such a beautiful picture!
My oldest son (who is 11) feels the exact same way as your son. lol! When we were at Open House, one of his teachers asked him "So Will, are you excited to be back to school soon?" Will (very honestly) replied "Nope - I don't like school."
Little booger!
What a lovely photo Pam...the processing is just beautiful.

love it!
Just when I think you can't get any funnier, you throw an "I Heart Butts" comment at me. I'm never going to get to sleep...I'm laughing too hard! lol!!

Oh that was such a heartbreaking post--from the title to the face to the story. I hope your little man enjoyed his first month back (because, if you live in Atlanta like s, they've been in school since August 10th!) and that he enjoyed his long weekend of freedom and exploration even more!
Yup, your words express his body language and facial expressions perfectly. Poor guy, I feel for him.
Great expression on his face - and you're right. Girls love school more than boys. It's hard for boys to sit still and learn - they need to experience it. (Not that girls don't, but they can ... if you know what I mean.)
LOVE your edit. Great shot. My son was definately NOT ready for summer to end.... he never is!
Very awesome picture.
What a great picture. I love back to school pictures, you can see the excitement, anticipation, nervousness in almost every face.
Nice job.

I totally understand Bug Hunter's feelings. I feel the same: "this party's over!" (name that movie...)
great picture capturing the essence of his reluctance!
That's an awesome picture. I love the emotion and personality it shows. He even looks a little nervous.
Awww, poor guy! I hope he has a great school year! Good shot :)
What a sweet photo. I don't think many boys are ever ready to go back to school:-)
You did such a great job! I love this picture Pam! Very perfect. He is so innocent and sweet : )
he doesn't look delighted about his first day of school. You gave him such a great summer, he doesn't want it to end!
Now my kids were glowing on their first day...yep, not the best summer around her. The couldn't get back to school soon enough!!! LOL!
That look on his face does not look that happy!
The Bug Hunter without dimples. Who woulda thunk it?
He really must be, um, adjusting slowly.
Aww you can tell by the look on his face that this is clearly not his thing! I hope he is adjusting well. What a great photo!
aw that face! So sad!!! Great entry this week my friend!
Pam your little Bug Hunter looks like he really dreads the first day, lol...great picture.
Love your picture, love your story, love your blog! Awesome.
Oh that reminds me of MY son these days!!! lol - Great capture!
not everyone can be excited about school. . .I was the same way!
