I had to join in True Story Tuesday over at Rachel's and Mr. Daddy's place today. Because this true story just happened yesterday, and I hope I never see anything like it again! It rained, and it rained, and then it rained some more, and suddenly we were no longer "by the creek". We were "in the creek", and it was pretty scary. It spread out about 100 feet wide and sounded like a freight train; I could hear it loud and clear inside the house (of course, with no power, it WAS pretty quiet in there). It truly makes me appreciate the stories on the news of people dealing with flooding next to the Mississippi or other big rivers. There's no controlling this primal force; it sweeps away whatever is in it's path. I'm so thankful that all is well at our house, but several friends were not so lucky. They have floodwaters in basements and living quarters, and one elementary school is under water to the roofline. My heart breaks for all that was lost, including 8 lives. I'm praying for all of those who hurt, and I praise God that today, the sun returned. He is faithful...
The creek was about 10 times it's normal size, and it knocked over a lot of small trees.
The force of the water was amazing; all of the ground cover from years past is gone.
The front yard looked like we had installed a new water feature. I hear it's usually expensive to put in a waterfall!
The waters had receeded by this point; they were at least two thirds of the way up on the retaining wall that you see in the picture when they crested.
The little girl next door knows how to rock an umbrella!
A real life example of making lemons out of lemonade....

I praise God that you are safe sweetie, praying for you, and your friends, and neighbors. The flooding is aweful here in chattanooga tennessee. I love you.
I am so glad that you guys are safe. We have had our share here but nothing like your creek. Stay safe. Great pics.
Pam
Glad you checked in!! I was a bit concerned about you guys! Truly thankful you're OK! I love you, Mo!! Boente! (That's my secret word of the day for the verification gurus and it sounded something similar to mucho to me so I had to add it in here!).
Oh my goodness - scary stuff!!
We were once stuck in a flash flood right in the middle of our neighborhood in Arizona. Our power was out and we had done all that we could do, so we inflated our raft that we like to take camping, made ourselves some drinks, and went outside to enjoy our new neighborhood "lake". ;)
Oh my goodness! That 'waterfall' is quite impressive! Living on a river, we have experienced that many times, and you NEVER know what may happen. Glad you are safe.
It has been such a mess, hasn't it? So happy that you guys are safe and that your home and property didn't sustain major damage. I was so thrilled to see the sun pop out today...God has heard our prayers!
That is WAY too close for comfort, my friend.
I am so glad it has receded and hope that you stay dry for awhile yet.
Though I must admit the shot of Bug Hunter with a body board was quite a chuckle :)
Brian and I are here reading our fav blogs together and want to let you know how sorry we are to hear about the flooding in your neck of the woods.
Glad you are okay, it's aweful to hear about your neighbors.
Take care!
I know it's not funny that you were living in the creek and not by it, but I love how you worded that!
I live in an area that floods, and it is indeed scary. Not just the water either- the aftermath too. If you aid in any clean-up make sure to get a tetnus shot. There are all kinds of bad things in flood water.
Certainly praying for all you guys in the south! Can only imagine how scary to have the flooding so up-close and personal...but just love how the bug hunter embraced the situation!! :) Be safe -
Oh man but you're so right, the flooding was absolutely CRAZY. It wasnt too bad in our neighborhood, but the lake that's WAY behind our house was all the way up to our back fence. We have so much to be thankful for! Thanks for the reminder my friend!
YIKES!! So glad everyone is ok. And, I love that you all still had your sense of humor!

You can thank your lucky stars that I actually remembered to say a prayer for you guys when I heard that your beautiful state was getting deluged with that rain...
glad to hear that you guys are safe and well...
While I am thinking about it I will say another for your neighbors....
gotta go I think I just remembered I was supposed to do something else...

So glad to hear you are OK! I really can't even imagine... I think I'd rather deal with earthquakes. I love the pictures of the kids though... they are so resilient!
Hope its drying out there. Until, here's a few ideas as to how you might exploit this situation:
1. Pam D's White Water Rafting Adventures
2. Ms. Pam's Surfing School--Kowabunga!
3. Creekside Grain Mill--We'll make meal out of your corn the old fashion way: A water wheel and grind stone right in our living room!
4. Pam's Seafood Kitchen, featuring fresh water fish caught from our open kitchen window!
5. Mz. D's Healing Mineral Springs (perfect for old folks, Mr. Daddy!)
6. Creekside Archeological Dig: Learn about Southern Culture! See what's floating downstream from Tennessee and the Carolinas!
7. Free Mud! (can't think of a catchy slogan)
8. Crossing of Red Sea Re-enactments, 10 and 2 daily. Children 12 and under free.
9. Creekside Brew Pub--Drown Your Sorrows, try our very own Brown Ale!
10. Creekside Laundry--Clean your clothes the old-fashion way! Beat them against rocks on a rolling river. Just like the women of the Ganges!
Seriously--hope all is well. I've been so preoccupied with my own little world, I forgot it rained 40 days and 40 nights where you live.
Thanks Pam D. now you got Brian in on the old age act.... LOL
But when you have time and if YOU happen to think about it, I might like a couple of bottles of that snake oil, (Mz. D's Healing Mineral Springs Elixir....)
am so glad that you guys are safe. We have had our share here but nothing like your creek. Stay safe. Great pics.
