I was chatting on Facebook with a friend last night (who shall remain unnamed because I didn't tell her that I was writing this). She has been through an enormous number of challenges in the past few years, many of them physical. Her faith has, no doubt, been the rock that has kept her out of the river of despair, and I mentioned in our chat at how she always seems to focus on the positive. I won't get her response exactly as she said it, but she basically said that she felt led by God to always look up; that He wanted to work through her by that example. And I realized that she had hit the nail on the head. Think about it; when you walk past a person who is looking up into the sky, you cannot help but to stop and look up, too. So, when someone is in the midst of great trials and they just keep looking up to God, all of those around them must train their eyes on Him as well, straining to see what it is that has captured their friend's attention. What a ministry, and what a way to finally get a handle on why we go through pain and suffering. It isn't ABOUT us at all; instead, it is THROUGH us that He is able to get others to see Him. And just maybe they will learn a wonderful thing; even as they look up to Him, His eyes are always on them:
Psalms 33:18 NIV
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.
So where are YOU looking today?
