Pinewood Derby Upset

Today was Adam's first-ever Pinewood Derby. This is one of the "biggies" in the Cub Scout world, and Adam and Chuck had fun working together to build Adam's car. He did everything that it was phyically possible for him to do (iow, he couldn't do all the sawing, and there was no way he could nail the wheels on straight, but he picked and helped to draw the design, he did some of the sawing, he sanded the car once sawed, he did the spray-painting and put on the decals). We were hoping that he would get a medal, and boy, did he ever! He won in his den, and got a medal. He came in second in all the Tigers, and got a medal. And then, against all odds, he WON the entire event! We truly were in shock, and I felt a very real answer to prayers. Adam has had a tough time since the 3rd quarter started at school. They've tightened up, and they no longer give warnings; just tickets. He's had a hard time getting smiley days over the past couple of weeks and had gotten very discouraged. I asked several people to pray for him, and he ended up with smileys on Thursday and Friday, and now this incredible trophy. This was a very needed boost at a very crucial time, and I am so thankful. Chuck, on the other hand, is feeling the pressure, as all the other dads are eyeing him for tips for next year.....
