Titus 2 Tuesday--Obedience

Photobucket

2 Cor.9:13--Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

I'm excited to participate in Titus 2 Tuesday again this week, because I get to share what I've learned from special women in my life. Sometimes, as women, we tear each other down; we can be our own worst enemies. But we're all in this together, and I'm finding that taking a minute to recognize how another woman has worked good in my life has made me more aware of how I impact others. It's a beautiful thing. For Titus2Tuesday, here is the question to be answered:

What have you learned from another woman this week? (or ever)

I have a dear friend who I've mentioned on my blog in the past, and I have learned MANY things from her. Her name is Cile Borders, and she and her husband Glenn are currently serving as counselors for IMB missionaries in Central and Eastern Europe. They were missionaries 20 years ago on the Ivory Coast, raising their son and daughter in the mission field. I met Cile at my son's school, where she was admissions director. I felt a strong pull from God to put him there, and Cile confirmed what I was feeling. Not by talking up the school, but by praying with me and looking to The Word. I honestly think that, had she felt it wasn't God's will for the Bug Hunter to go there, she would have told me, because it wasn't about the school, it was about God. Cile also gave me some great advice on my marriage to an unbeliever, and I went away not only knowing that I'd found a great school for my son, but that I'd also found a new friend.
Cile and Glenn were also memebers at my church, and when the next round of adult Bible studies came up, I found myself in their "Eclectic Adults" class. The discussions were deep, and the food was great; Cile always seemed to bring in something yummy so that growling stomachs didn't disturb our studies. Midway through the class year, the Borders disclosed that they were feeling led by God to return to the missions field. They applied to the International Missions Board and were accepted (no surprise there). I was totally blown away by their obedience to their calling as they cleaned out their house, sold many of their possessions, and prepared to leave family behind to embark on a tour of duty based in Hungary. They knew no one, and the Hungarian language is one of the hardest to master. Still, they followed where God directed, and I've followed along on their blog as they've spent the past two years making friends and taking the love of God wherever they go. Cile has taught me a lot, but the essence of who she is, besides a true Proverbs 31 woman, is obedient. Obedient first to God, then to Glenn, and because of that obedience she has blessed SO many people. Please stop by her blog, Goulash To Go! and spend some time touring Europe with her. And please leave her some love while you're there!

Hi Pam

This is a beautiful tribute. She is an amazing woman, especially because she is humble and continually learning more about who God is.

Thank you also for your friendship. Support from home is invaluable!

What a beautiful tribute and so humbling. If I hadn't been there myself, I probably wouldn't have recognized her as me!!!

I actually had read your blog before you even sent me the email. I was in Prague and checking blogs when I saw my name! I was in a meeting with the big-wigs and nearly squealed out loud with surprise. Thank you so much!!!!
