Slime, pralines, and a Holy Night

We're just lettin' the good times roll here on the creek as we zoom (or inch, if you ask Bug Hunter) closer to Christmas. I'm still holding fast to the "1 hour of screen time a day" rule, and we really are enjoying the break a lot more. The girls next door brought Bug Hunter his present, and they know him well. It's a game called "Totally Gross", and while the kids are laughing hysterically at all of the crazy things they have to do, they're learning a LOT about science. But, they mis-read the directions in the beginning, which led to a few funny pictures. A can of green slime comes with the game, and the kids thought they were supposed to put the slime on THEIR noses while they played. It was hilarious watching the stuff drip down their faces, but there was NO WAY they were putting it back in the can when they were done. Upon further inspection, they learned that they were supposed to put the slime on the noses of their gamepiece people! Lesson learned; we'll get a new can of slime, and it can be re-used from now on! But at least I got these funny snapshots:

While the game kept the kids busy, I started my holiday treat making (finally!). Pralines, fudge, and toffee are done; I still need to make some pumpkin bread and vacuum cleaner cookies. It's nice to finally have some Christmas to give away!

Finally, Bug Hunter had come home on the last day of school with a picture he had drawn there. I scanned it in to the computer today and made a little card out of it. I think next year I'll try to get him to draw a picture earlier in the year and turn it into our Christmas card. In the meantime, Life by the Creek wishes you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and most of all, for the Light of the world to shine in your life....

I'm not so sure if the Bug Hunter has a better future in high climbing (after your last post,) or as an artist...

I wish you didn't live so far away or we would be over for cookies and milk...LOL they sound delicious.

Merry Christmas Pam! I had a few minutes this Christmas night to visit a few of my long-lost blogging friends! As always, I enjoyed the visit!

The slime was adorable! The pralines look awesome - caramel and pecans...we are so very much alike in so many areas! I absolutely love the idea of having your son make your Christmas card too - we might have to borrow that idea for next yr!

May God's richest blessings be upon your family tonight and continuing throughout the New Year!

That is so beautiful Pam! The card, NOT the slimy noses : ) Although they are hilarious! What a fun game! You are such a great mom! I think that 1 hour of screen time is brilliant. I am totally failing with that! We did play outside for 2 hours today though : ) I am giving myself extra credit for that since it was brrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrr cold : )

Love the card - just perfect! And umm yeah... can we come over for some goodies?! What are vacuum cleaner cookies - or do I even want to know? (Cuz having a 3-year old means a LOT of quality time with the vacuum cleaner. Oh wait, that sounded really weird).

And Mr. Daddy is neglecting to mention that we are in the "would it really truly work out" trying to plan stages of a possible road trip...???? :)
