Buzzzz-y

We've been busy around here lately. School busy, friend busy, playing in the sun busy. In other words, GOOD busy. I've taken a lot of pictures, but most of them won't make it here. Because I'm TOO busy living to sit down and do all that it takes to download, resize, edit, and upload a bunch of pictures. I don't know about you, but I LIKE that kind of busy, where games are being played and friends are being hugged and fun is being had. HOWEVER... when I do come down here to check email and friends' blogs in the few spare minutes that I have, and I hear what sounds like a B-52 bomber flying around the office, it gets my attention. And when the Bug Hunter lives up to his name and captures the behemoth, I simply must share. Who knew that Europe could produce something so robust? This, my friends, is a European Hornet, and she is about 1 1/2 inches long. I kid you not. She is just about as big as my little finger. And that? Scares me. Not much scares me, but she is pushing the envelope. And while I really love living in the woods, this is one of those times that makes me want to run screaming for the nearest manicured subdivision. Because, according to the webpage I found, somewhere, in my woods, lurks a large nest containing up to FOUR HUNDRED of these big beauties. Nice. I guess none of YOU will be coming to visit me anytime soon. But that's OK, because if many more of these show up? I probably won't be here to greet you.

She's kinda pretty. Have you named her yet?

Hey, whatever it takes to get you back online is fine with me.

Sorry for being so selfish.

WOW.

That's one oversized specimen.

Someday maybe I'll get my mom to recount the infamous "killer bees" legend from her youth... but I would have been much more worried for you with those BEARS you so casually mentioned once! :)
