Two Word Gospel

Yesterday, the Bug Hunter and I went to his friend's birthday party. We started out at a restaurant, having lunch, and then went to one of those putt putt/go karts/bumper boats places to play. I took one or two (or over four HUNDRED!) pictures; I'm posting this one but uploaded the rest for his mom to use as she pleases. We had lots of fun, and as the only "non-family" members of the group, we felt like, well.. family.
On the way from the restaurant to the play place, I was in traffic (and alone, since the Bug Hunter insisted on riding with his friend, and I NEVER turn down the opportunity for a little quiet time. Especially when I know I'm about to enter the "chaos zone" of a place created for frenzied kid fun). As I sat behind a car at a traffic light, I noticed the bumper sticker on the window (isn't it always called a bumper sticker, even when it's not on the bumper?). Anyway, it was just two words; two simple words. I love reading bumper stickers, and I confess to making opinionated guesses as to the personality of the owner based on the content of the sticker. Some are rude, some funny, some just downright frustrating (the bumper stickers.. although I suppose that's also how I feel about the drivers). But this bumper sticker was a little different. I can't really say for sure the mindset of the owner when they put the saying on their car. I don't know if they realized what it really said, or not. I just know that, as I sat there (and sat there.. and sat there), a thought flashed through my head. "THAT is the Gospel, in just two words. It's the life, the death, the burial, and the resurrection... it's my salvation... it's the reason that I have hope." Two words... just two words. Can you guess what they were? Can you? Go ahead.. try...

Write it down....

Look at it....

What do you think? Have you figured it out?

wait for it.......

"LOVE WINS". That's it. And if there are only two words that I could use to explain who Jesus was and why what He did really matters, those are the two words that tell the story. Because, it does. satan hates it, and he'll do everything he can to convince us otherwise, but he's wrong. In the end, it's all that matters. Love wins.. and so do you and I.

This is how much God loved the world; He gave His Son, His one and only Son. And this is why; so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in Him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. John 3:16 (the Message)

That is so awesome. I love how consisely it wraps up what God has done for us (and what He chooses to do for us on a daily basis).

Thanks for the reminder.

My guess was "Jesus Lives." But I like "Love Wins" just as much. I guess it's all relative because when I stop to think of it, it's impossible to have one without the other.

I love how you find insight in everything. You can take something so small and show us just how big it really is. What a gift.

Now, if you would just give me the gift of a pastel blog background and black lettering so I could decipher your brilliance without straining so much, I would be forever grateful.

(And, again, it really is all about me, isn't it???)

I was so glad you didn't make us guess and then come back and tell us later! ;)

I absolutely loved that. "Love wins" does sum it all up beautifully!
