I've been having (too much) fun with the filter function on my Microsoft Digital Image Editing program lately. I like Picasa for some things, but the filters in D.I. really allow me to play with a picture and do all sorts of crazy stuff to it. I took some closeups of ChAce, the gecko, and got one that I really like of just his face. I ran it through several different filters and would LOVE some feedback. (btw.. I Heart Faces has a "Pets-Anything Goes" category this week, so that MIGHT be why I'm doing this... shhh..). In order to see the differences, you might have to click on each photo to enlarge it. Some are subtle; some, not so much. I can't decide which I like best, so please help me out here! I'll love you forever if you do.....
This is the original cropped photo, with no filter applied:
This one has the "ink outline" filter:
This has a subtle eggshell effect:
This one is a charcoal sketch (you really need to enlarge this to see the detail):
This one is called "plastic wrap".. kinda looks like I dipped him in wax!
This one is called "cutout" and reminds me of a Peter Max poster...
So, which do you like? Straight up, dipped in wax, or crazy cutout? Or, something in between? There are a ton of filters, including neon, backlit, and a lot of different ways to do paint, crayon, colored pencil, etc. I may go try a few more; you know where to find me!

I like the original and the charcoal. So cool.
Forever is a long time to be loved, so I'm in.
I like the original without any filters. The soft focus effect of the area surrounding the brilliant color and definition of the animal itself is a wonderful juxtaposition of effects. Kinda reflects life: clarity and muted, hard with soft edges, vibrant and subdued.
Just saying.
I like the original.
I like the eggshell filter... but I'm a sucker for soft edits sometimes. The detail on the original is just striking! It's a good picture - even if I'd run screaming from the real thing! :)
I think i like the origianl best but if you wanted to use an filter i like eggshell effect. Gives him a "lizzardy" texture.
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your kind comment.
I'm enjoying your blog so much and your photos too!
