Titus2 Tuesday-Prayer Warrior

Photobucket

After the ridiculous comes the sublime... (or, from True Stories to Titus2 friends..). Shanda at A Teachable Heart hosts this meme, and the question to be answered each week is "What have you learned from another woman this week (or ever)?" It's a pretty easy pick for me this time.
I became acquainted with my friend Dana at the beginning of this school year. I'm the class room mom, and her daughter was new to the school. They had just moved to the area from North Carolina, and Dana came in like a whirlwind. She's involved in several aspects of volunteering at the school, but what has drawn us close together was her desire to start an afternoon chapter of Moms In Touch. I had no previous knowledge of this wonderful organization that encourages mothers to come together to pray for their child's school, but I love prayer and was in from the start. Only 3 of us (now down to 2) have met every Wednesday afternoon, but Matthew 18:20 says "For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them." I've seen some wonderful answers to the prayers we send up in the reading room, and Dana has blown me away with her faithfulness and strong committment to prayer and God's Word. She found Christ four years ago and yet seems to be so far ahead of me in her journey; thank you, God, for putting her in my life. Last week, she gave me a wonderful book called "What Happens When Women Pray" by Evelyn Christenson. It was written back in 1971, but it's as fresh as if it were written yesterday. I couldn't put it down once I got it, and I am looking forward to exploring the concepts held within with Dana over the remaining weeks in school. I've watched Dana witness to people at the drop of a hat, and I've seen her handle some tough situations with grace and a servant heart. She's taught me many things in less than a year, but after praying last summer for God to help me become a stronger prayer warrior, the biggest lesson of all has been how our wonderful God hears us and answers our prayers perfectly.

I will have to check out that book! I have had some wonderful friends over the years; but the ones we pray with seem to be the truly lasting kind. You share your hearts in such a deep way. So glad God brought Dana into your life! Thank you for sharing her with us!

Isn't it wonderful when someone comes into our lives and motivates us to become stronger Christians and better people? Sure sounds like God blessed you with a wonderful mentor and friend. I'm so glad you shared your story today! Be blessed!

That books sounds wonderful, Pam. Growing up, I witnessed and often was a part of gossip, rumors, complaints, and all kinds of misuse of word and tongue. (I guess that book would be called "What Happens When Women Prey!)

When I became a Christian I spent a lot of time learning how to walk the walk, learning about Christ and all that He has done for us. But it was long into my walk with Christ before I actually learned how to talk the talk...in other words, how to use words and The Word to change myself and my world.

Your school is blessed to have people like you and Dana to use your time and your tongues to make your children's "world" a better place.

Touched by God...who could asked for anything else?
